Casa das Conchas
The Casa das Conchas is a home for young boys and girls created December 19th 2001. Is a shelter with 28 users now, where the ages are between 7 and 19 years old, which by court decision where trusted to us.
Our main objective is to define and help each children achieving their own life project, providing a safe environment, housing, food, clothing, medical assistance, academic and/or professional formation and several activities: sportive, cultural. We try to provide values and principles towards instilling self respect and, stimulating cooperation, sharing and solidarity spirit

The Casa do Mar Home is a shelter home for 12 young female adolescents, that buy court order where in trusted to us. The Casa do Mar exists to ensure the right that each child has to have a home with all the necessary conditions for their harmony safe development, to attend school to access formation suited to their development, to make friends and to live in society. Over all to benefit from all the rights described in the International Convention of the Children’s Rights’.
The main goal of the Casa do Mar is to permit to each adolescent the possibility of writing a professional and live project, respecting their wishes but always having in mind the reality, to ease into society.

CATL Changing the future
The Activities Centre for extra curricular activities, “Mudar o Futuro” – Changing the Future - was born in 2001 trough a project with the same name, created in the sphere of action of the program “Ser Criança” – Being a Child-The main goal of the project was the intervention with the child and their family to reach a larger and better social integration, organizing sportive, cultural and pedagogical activities. After the 3 years of this project and obtaining successful results, it was proposed by the Social Welfare, the continuity of the actions and a protocol was signed in order to continue the action developed by the Centro de Actividades de Tempos Livres – Recreational centre - so in this way it was possible to follow the work began in 2001.
During the school year 2006/07 there are 36 children between the ages of 5 and 12 that attended the program. The centre is opened from 14.00 to 19.00 during the school time and in the holidays it’s opened from 09.00 to 19.00.

Children Summer Camp
Every year the Foundation organises holidays for needed children selected by the social security centres, social solidarity institutions public or private and municipalities. There are about 1000 children that benefit from these holidays.
In cooperation with municipalities and others institutions the Foundation organises holidays for elderly people in open system and in close system for handicapped.
The Foundation organises every year five shifts of summer camps for needed children between June and September incorporates about 600 to 1000 children. The selection criteria are made by need that each child resent.
The Foundation promotes several amusing and pedagogical activities with the objective of transforming these holidays also in a moment of acquisition of principals, knowledge and personal enriching.
The Foundation also takes these holiday periods to perform the usual health check-up and dental exams to all children. Preventive treatments are also performed.
The children’s Summer Camp takes place between June and September and it’s probably the most well known label from the O Século Foundation. During more then seven generations, more then 100.000 children had spend holidays at the O Século Summer Camp benefiting from this social service.

Século of the little ones
Hello, we are the “Século of the little ones” the nursery and kindergarten of the O Século Foundation. We started our activity in September 2003.
The nursery department (from 4 mounts to 3 years) would like to give an answer to all the requests increasing our capacity that is for 35 children. These requests illustrate the need of a social answer in this area. The kindergarten department has a capacity for 50 children (from 3 to 5 years old) it’s managed in a way to receive all the children that come from the nursery.
Who are we?
All the sudden, we had the need to have a hug…
A need of proximity…of friendship…who knows!
Maybe a friendly and kind cuddling, that celebrates live and softness the pain…
That talks about love, and is affectionate and strong at the same time…
A hug that stops time and fulfils all the space…

A hug that undoes all the knots, transforming them in an evolving lace…
That serves as a lap, putting away all and any anguish…
A hug that means friendship, love and emotion (…)

…And it was with this spirit that a professional team was selected that worries with the intellectual, emotional and moral development of our children.

Food Support Program
The food support program to needy people has started in 1998, having as financer the Cascais City Hall. The program ensures the support to Cascais needy residents and dependent from others to cook their own meals.
The implantation of the program in such a vast area has demanded the split of the Cascais region in two areas of influence, delivered to two institutions: Século Foundation and Santa Casa da Misericórdia de Cascais. In June 2002 the partnership was effective with O Século Foundation, assuring the distribution on time of the meals due to the increasing demand of this service.

Emergency shelter
The Foundation has reserved 10 rooms for emergency situations, where it has been a shelter for the most different situations, giving an answer to the Social Security requests, Municipalities and other institutions, in order to ensure a temporary response for emergency situations that need immediate solution.
